DIY Apple Pie Moonshine Alá Mode

Posted by Administrator on 8/9/2015 to DIY Projects
Some of our staff made this 100% legal apple pie moonshine as Christmas gifts this past year … it is so tasty and popular that I wanted to share the whole process with all of you.

This recipe tastes just like a slice of Mom’s Apple Pie

It’s so easy to make and doesn’t require very many ingredients — aha! just the kind of DIY project I like best! You can order your very own personalized moonshine labels from our site too! >>Check out our labels

Gather up your ingredients:
1 gallon Apple Cider
1 gallon Apple Juice
1.5 cups White Sugar
1.5 cups Brown Sugar
Cinnamon Sticks
3 cups Everclear Grain Alcohol
2 cups Vanilla Vodka

(Recipe makes 8-9 quarts)

Additional items needed:
Plastic funnel
9 Quart Canning Jars or equivalent
Personalized Moonshine Stickers (from Right On The Walls, of course!)
Decorative Accents
Gift Bags

Pour apple juice and apple cider into a large boiling or soup-making pot, then stir both white and brown sugars and 8 cinnamon sticks in. Keep on low heat to simmer.

Mmmm … the simmering part is my favorite step! Breathe deeply: your whole house will smell just like fresh-baked Apple Pie!  nom nom nom

Stir frequently. Remove from heat after 30 minutes and let the mixture cool completely.

Add a single cinnamon stick to each quart jar or container. (We chose to use glass canning jars to look more “moonshine-like”, but of course you can re-use wine bottles or any container you’ve got on hand.)

When your apple pie moonshine mixture is cool to the touch, add Everclear Grain Alcohol and Vanilla Vodka. Stir.

Your Apple Pie Moonshine Just Needs the Finishing Touches

Pour the Apple Pie Moonshine Into Your Containers

Just a word of warning: this mixture is S-T-I-C-K-Y. Trust me, I learned the hard way to use a funnel to do the pouring!

Then we created some snazzy unique personalized moonshine stickers to top off our jars. Our design team at Right On The Walls will custom print stickers for your project too!

Burlap sack covers? Raffia ribbon? Yes, please! The perfect way to wrap and decorate our apple pie moonshine jars! (Be creative and use what you have on hand …)

Be sure to keep your apple pie moonshine in a cool, dark and dry place — you can refrigerate it if you don’t have a spot that’s quite cool enough.

We found the Apple Pie Moonshine tastes better with age! At 2 weeks it was yummy … but at 4 weeks it was amazingly scrumptious! So plan to make your moonshine a few weeks ahead of any big holiday or event for optimum flavor.

We added larger matching Right On The Walls designed moonshine stickers to the outside of a brown kraft paper gift bag — and then hand-delivered the gifts. What a HUGE hit! Friends and relatives have been begging for more ever since.

Well, we finally broke down and gave up the “secret recipe!” Enjoy!

Please drink responsibly. NEVER drink and drive.

Why does the liquid need to cool before adding Everclear? Thank you

Add the everclear and vodka when the mixture is cool and you wont lose any of the alcohol to evaporation.

This recipe makes 8-9 quarts as mentioned above under ingredients. If you put the mixture in quart jars, you will use 8-9 jars. I like to let my moonshine set for a few months before drinking. If you keep it refrigerated, it will last a year or more.

What is the proof % per volume when finished, and where do you get everclear? I don't drink myself, but find it would make wonderful gifts! Please respond.
